According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through July 14, 2016 were 9.26 million metric tons (MMT), 33 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 6.99 MMT.

Net sales of 478,000 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up 50 percent from the previous week, but down 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (18,843 HRW, 33,150 HRS, 31,899 white), China (60,375 HRS), Nigeria (37,200 HRW), Brazil (31,000 HRW), and Canada (30,000 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 37 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 36 percent.
