According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through August 15, 2013 were 14.6 million metric tons (MMT), 40 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 10.4 MMT.
Net sales of 494,000 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were up 1 percent from the previous week, but down 20 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade expectations of 450,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (4,000 SRW), China (52,308 SRW), Thailand (10,500 HRW, 22,000 white), South Korea (11,292 HRW, 28,060 white), Taiwan (14,155 HRW, 250 white), and Nigeria (39,710 HRW, 150 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 49 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 42 percent of exports committed by this date.
