According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through August 24, 2017 were 12.1 million metric tons (MMT), 2 percent ahead of last year's year-to-date total of 11.8 MMT and in line with the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 536,000 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 39 percent from the previous week and 32 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 300,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (45,690 HRW, 32,404 HRS, 21,508 white), the Philippines (53,188 HRS, 30,278 white), South Africa (82,100 HRW), Indonesia (75,498 HRW), and Mexico (25,513 HRW, -780 HRS, 44,189 SRW, -4,150 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 46 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 47 percent.
