According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through July 21, 2016 were 9.76 million metric tons (MMT), 27 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 7.68 MMT.

Net sales of 506,100 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up 6 percent from the previous week, but down 11 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (67,119 HRW, 36,022 HRS, 55,090 white), Mexico (56,500 HRW, 19,549 SRW), South Korea (7,550 HRW, 22,801 HRS, 18,400 white), Chile (38,551 HRW, 6,300 HRS, -1,803 white), Brazil (39,852 HRW), and Honduras (18,000 HRS, 13,400 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 39 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 38 percent.
