According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through October 6, 2017 were 14.2 million metric tons (MMT), 5 percent behind last year's year-to-date total and 4 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 175,000metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, down 65 percent from the previous week and 55 percent below the prior 4-week average. Sales were below trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (30,640 HRW, 43,992 HRS, 12,395 white, 1,000 durum), the Philippines (36,180 HRS, 15,800 white), Honduras (3,000 HRW, 16,000 HRS, 12,200 SRW), Indonesia (30,865 white), and Nigeria (-8,000 HRW, 33,000 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 54 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 58 percent.
