According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through April 13, 2017 were 27.6 million metric tons (MMT), 41 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 19.6 MMT and 10 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 414,000 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 2 percent from the previous week and 12 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Indonesia (73,930 HRW), Japan (21,741 HRW, 35,842 HRS, 14,346 white), Mexico (52,004 HRW, 4,900 HRS, 12,673 SRW), South Korea (13,300 HRW, 26,732 HRS, 29,330 white), and Nigeria (58,058 HRW, 719 white).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 99 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 101 percent.
