According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through August 4, 2011 were 10.937 million metric tons (MMT), 3 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 10.569 MMT.
Net sales of 376,100 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were down 25 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average, and below trade estimates of 400,000 MT to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Egypt (62,998 SRW), Indonesia (286 HRW, 59,971 white), Nigeria (57,200 HRW), Iraq (50,000 HRW), Mexico (499 HRW, 615 HRS, 36,000 SRW), and Japan (412 HRW, 34,376 HRS, 494 white).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.94 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 35 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 38 percent of exports committed by this date.
