According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through June 9, 2016 were 6.53 million metric tons (MMT), 29 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 5.05 MMT.

Net sales of 762,900 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17, were well above trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (31,888 HRW, 11,108 HRS, 48,007 SRW), South Korea (13,000 HRW, 25,600 HRS, 160 SRW, 36,450 white), Japan (29,362 HRW, 32,249 HRS, 4,965 white), Thailand (9,500 HRW, 22,000 HRS, 23,500 white), Colombia (34,500 HRW, 15,419 SRW), and Chile (45,000 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 27 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 25 percent.
