According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through August 1, 2013 were 13.6 million metric tons (MMT), 42 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 9.58 MMT.
Net sales of 726,200 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were up 22 percent from the previous week, but down 22 percent from the prior 4-week average, and above trade expectations of 500,000 to 700,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (169,500 HRW), Japan (29,241 HRW, 60,680 white), Taiwan (24,530 HRW, 11,558 white), and China (-71 HRW, 60,866 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.3 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 47 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 37 percent of exports committed by this date.
