According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through October 6, 2016 were 14.9 million metric tons (MMT), 26 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 11.8 MMT.

Net sales of 491,000 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up 30 percent from the previous week, and 3 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Morocco (145,000 HRW), Thailand (11,300 HRW, 25,998 HRS, 18,700 white), Japan (11,218 HRW, 25,654 HRS, 2,464 white), Brazil (36,300 HRW), and Yemen (30,831 white).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 57 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 59 percent.
