According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through July 7, 2011 were 9.244 million metric tons (MMT), 30 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 7.095 MMT.
Net sales of 519,100 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were within trade estimates of 350,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (31,450 HRW, 57,825 HRS, 39,032 white), Mexico (67,463 HRW, 54,333 SRW), Nigeria (84,390 HRW, 12,256 SRW, 4,891 durum), South Africa (37,897 HRW, 7,150 HRS, 19,250 SRW), and Iraq (49,313 HRW).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 31.30 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 30 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 26 percent of exports committed by this date.
