According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2010/11 marketing year, through July 8, 2010 were 7.095 million metric tons (MMT), 32 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 5.372 MMT.
Net sales 309,400 MT for the 2010/11 marketing year were down 40 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average, and below trade estimates of 350,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were reported for Nigeria (84,194 HRW, 10,000 white), Mexico (57,140 HRW, -454 SRW), Taiwan (12,400 HRW, 19,990 HRS, 11,270 white), the Philippines (43,500 HRS, -2,000 white), Kenya (35,900 HRW), and Peru (19,558 HRW, 10,978 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2010/11 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.22 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 26 percent of total projected exports, down from the 5-year average of 27 percent of exports committed by this date.
