According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through December 21, 2017 were 19.3 million metric tons (MMT), 7 percent behind last year's year-to-date total of 20.8 MMT and 2 percent behind the 5-year average.

Net sales of 478,400 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, down 40 percent from the previous week but 1 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were well above trade expectations of 250,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Morocco (130,000 HRW), Mexico (93,659 HRW, 13,417 HRS, 8,632 SRW), Nigeria (89,500 HRW, 11,000 HRS), South Korea (4,113 HRW, 4,812 HRS, 69,780 white), and Thailand (7,030 HRW, 23,430 HRS, 20,980 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 73 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 78 percent.
