According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through June 8, 2017 were 6.98 million metric tons (MMT), 7 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 6.52 MMT and 7 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 373,400 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18. Sales were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (60,000 HRW, 362 HRS, 61,049 SRW), Nigeria (49,600 HRW, 7,000 durum), Taiwan (15,065 HRW, 33,231 HRS, 5,561 white), Colombia (22,624 HRW, 620 HRS, 24,278 SRW), Peru (10,000 HRW, 15,000 HRS, 2,243 SRW), and Costa Rica (7,779 HRS, 8,675 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 26 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 25 percent.
