According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through December 7, 2017 were 18.1 million metric tons (MMT), 9 percent behind last year's year-to-date total of 19.9 MMT and 4 percent behind the 5-year average.

Net sales of 588,800 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 83 percent from the previous week and 97 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were well above trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Thailand (22,500 HRW, 33,000 HRS, 40,500 white), Morocco (90,000 HRW), Mexico (74,556 HRW, 8,728 SRW), Unknown Destinations (58,859 HRW, -20,222 HRS, 5,000 SRW, -8,880 white, 30,000 durum), and Taiwan (13,850 HRW, 42,480 HRS, 540 SRW, 6,150 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 69 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 74 percent.
