According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through March 1, 2012 were 24.4 million metric tons (MMT), 23 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 31.8 MMT.

Net sales of 446,700 MT were up 8 percent from the previous week, but down 20 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade estimates of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Iran (120,000 HRW), Mexico (22,637 HRW, 1,683 HRS, 9,084 SRW, 62,313 white), China (56,140 HRS, 1,750 white), Nigeria (40,000 HRW, 12,000 SRW), Taiwan (1,218 HRW, 30,000 HRS), and Venezuela (5,483 HRW, 15,500 HRS, 4,000 durum).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 93 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 94 percent of exports committed by this date.
