According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through July 25, 2013 were 12.9 million metric tons (MMT), 45 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 8.92 MMT.
Net sales of 596,900 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were down 10 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade expectations of 500,000 to 700,000 MT. Increases were primarily for China (129,888 SRW), Nigeria (77,200 HRW, 17,798 SRW), Brazil (88,259 HRW), Mexico (42,837 HRW, 32,008 SRW), and Colombia (58,119 HRW, 9,169 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.3 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 44 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 34 percent of exports committed by this date.
