According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through June 6, 2013 were 7.41 million metric tons (MMT), 33 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 5.55 MMT.
Net sales for the 2013/2014 marketing year, which began June 1, totaled 427,200 metric tons, within trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (110,733 HRW, 20,000 SRW), Japan (48,933 HRW, 45,805 HRS), Peru (32,000 HRW, 12,000 SRW), Colombia (18,000 HRW, 6,697 SRW), and the Philippines (24,000 HRS).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 28 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 21 percent of exports committed by this date.
