According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through May 19, 2016 were 20.6 million metric tons (MMT), 12 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.3 MMT.

Net reductions of 9,900 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Sales were below trade expectations of 0 to 200,000 MT and included significant quantities switched to 2016/17. Increases were primarily for Japan (20,997 HRW, 13,905 white), Guatemala (10,300 HRW, 5,450 HRS, 4,750 white), Mexico (14,810 HRW, 3,096 HRS, 100 SRW), Venezuela (15,000 HRW), and El Salvador (5,000 HRW, 2,150 HRS, 1,150 white).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 98 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 104 percent.
