According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through August 29, 2013 were 15.8 million metric tons (MMT), 38 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 11.5 MMT.
Net sales of 668,400 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were up 21 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average, and above trade expectations of 425,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (187,000 HRW), Mexico (36,214 HRW, 52,861 SRW, 2,073 white), Indonesia (50,000 HRW, 15,000 white), Italy (39,400 durum), Colombia (45,000 SRW), and Chile (16,859 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 53 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 46 percent of exports committed by this date.
