According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through June 2, 2011 were 6.638 million metric tons (MMT), 59 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 4.173 MMT.
Net sales for the 2011/12 marketing year, which began June 1, totaled 477,700 metric tons. Increases were reported for Japan (66,743 HRW, 148,004 HRS, 36,767 white), the Philippines (2,500 HRW, 28,500 HRS, 46,500 white), Nigeria (27,500 HRW, 36,000 HRS), Indonesia (10,000 HRS, 51,000 white), and South Africa (31,805 HRW).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.58 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 19 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 17 percent of exports committed by this date.
