According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through September 1, 2016 were 12.5 million metric tons (MMT), 21 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 10.4 MMT.

Net sales of 661,100 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up noticeably from the previous week, and 51percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales exceeded trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily the Philippines (121,099 HRS, 56,999 white), Brazil (152,872 HRW), China (63,000 HRW, 36,750 HRS, 93 SRW, 21,000 white), Vietnam (15,000 HRW, 25,000 HRS, 22,200 white), and Mexico (23,054 HRW, 11,313 HRS, 25,261 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 49 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 50 percent.
