According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through July 13, 2017 were 9.42 million metric tons (MMT), up 2 percent from last year's year-to-date total of 9.26 MMT and 3 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 669,500 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 87 percent from the previous week and 52 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were above trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (10,900 HRW, 57,875 HRS, 96,155 white), South Korea (18,350 HRW, 26,800 HRS, 42,850 white), Mexico (78,717 HRW, 3,039 HRS, 6,230 SRW), Venezuela (60,000 HRW, 15,000 SRW), Nigeria (60,135 HRW), and Taiwan (15,697 HRW, 26,565 HRS, 7,927 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 36 percent of total projected exports, above the 5-year average of 35 percent.
