According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through September 22, 2016 were 14.0 million metric tons (MMT), 27 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 11.1 MMT.

Net sales of 570,800 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up 2 percent from the previous week, and 20 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Morocco (145,000 HRW), Mexico (99,724 HRW, 6,708 HRS, 5,846 SRW), the Philippines (85,813 HRS, 22,000 white), South Korea (7,800 HRW, 16,268 HRS, 29,629 white), Thailand (27,000 HRW, -600 HRS, 22,400 white), and Chile (43,557 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 55 percent of total projected exports, in line with the 5-year average.
