According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through July 7, 2016 were 8.78 million metric tons (MMT), 35 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 6.48 MMT.

Net sales of 317,700 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17, were slightly below trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (61,303 HRW, 328 HRS, 5,292 SRW), Chile (45,000 HRW), Japan (32,569 HRS, 305 white), Brazil (30,000 HRW), Taiwan (21,801 HRW), and Trinidad and Tobago (4,000 HRW, 13,000 HRS, 4,000 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 35 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 34 percent.
