|The hard red winter harvest has continued at a rapid pace this week through Kansas and into southern Nebraska. Isolated storms in northwest Kansas and southeast Colorado slowed progress in those areas.|
NASS is reporting 81% of the crop in Kansas harvested compared to 58% in 2005 and 48% for the five-year average. The Nebraska harvest is 12% complete compared to 4% last year and 4% for the five-year average. Colorado is 30% harvested compared to 1% in 2005 and a five-year average of 3%.
Cumulative HRW data has changed little from last week with protein content continuing to average approximately 2% higher than last year. Test weight average is similar to last year with a decrease in thousand kernel weight. Falling number values continue to hold near 400.
