Harvest Report - September 10, 2010
HRW
The 2010 HRW wheat harvest is nearly complete with only a few isolated areas in Montana yet to be harvested. The HRW harvest summary for next week will be the final summary of the 2010 crop year and will include Montana grade and non-grade data to date, and an overall summary of mill, dough and bake test results.

Preliminary data for Pacific Northwest tributary wheat (excluding Montana data) indicates somewhat lower protein compared to last year, as was the case for Gulf tributary wheat. The exception is South Dakota where wheat protein is averaging 12.4% (not weighted for production volume). The resulting dough and bake test data related to protein is better than most areas, including water absorption, bake mix times and loaf volumes. Individual testing data can be viewed at www.plainsgrains.org.
