Harvest Report - May 15, 2009
HRW
Harvest in the southern part of Texas began April 9, 2009, and wrapped up approximately one month later. Yields were disappointing, with the average between 15 to 20 bushels per acre, but quality characteristics were good. Test weights were between 60 and 61 pounds per bushel (78.9 and 80.2 kg/hl) and protein averaged 14.5 percent. Combines will begin running in one to two weeks near Waco, the southern edge of the Blacklands, which will begin harvest in the major wheat producing area of the state.
