Harvest Report - June 6, 2008
HRW
In Texas, wheat is being harvested around Wichita Falls, Abilene, and the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. Test weights have been excellent, ranging between 60 and 65 lbs per bushel according to Rodney Mosier, Executive Director, Texas Wheat Producers. It has been fairly hot and windy across the state, with a few scattered thunderstorms forecasted for the end of the week and into the weekend. Wheat harvest in Oklahoma now ranges from border to border. Mark Hodges, Executive Director, Oklahoma Wheat Commission reports, "test weights in central and northern Oklahoma have been above 60 lbs per bushel and producers have been pleased with the yields.” The storms earlier this week resulted in significant damage in a few counties along the border between Oklahoma and Kansas, with reports of field losses between 20 to 90 percent.
