ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) announces that Mr. Osvaldo Seco has joined the organization as Marketing Specialist for the South America Region in the Santiago, Chile, office. Seco will report to Alvaro de la Fuente, USW Regional Vice President, and have market development responsibilities in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile Ecuador and Peru.
USW is the market development organization for America's wheat producers. Its activities are made possible by producer checkoff dollars managed by 18 state wheat commissions and through cost-share funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service.
“Osvaldo is a young Chilean native with a strong marketing background,” de la Fuente says. “His experience and enthusiasm will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to position U.S. wheat as the most reliable supplier of high-quality milling wheat in this region.” Seco will maintain trade data related to wheat imports and exports, establish wheat trade contacts through the region, and gather market information that will serve the needs of South American wheat buyers and wheat food processors. Annual sales of U.S. wheat to South America average nearly 70 million bushels (1.9 million metric tons), and include five of the six wheat classes produced in the U.S.
Seco is a 2004 graduate of the University Gabriela Mistral, Santiago, Chile. He holds a degree in Business Administration and a specialty degree in Marketing. Most recently, Seco was a marketing specialist for the U.S market with Garden House Laboratories, a Chilean pharmaceutical firm focused on naturally derived consumer products.
