USW/Mexico City Welcomes Technical Specialist

Arlington, VA (January 23, 2009) - USW announces that Marcelo Mitre has joined the organization as Technical Specialist for the Mexican, Central American and Caribbean Region in the Mexico City office. Mitre, whose full name is Carlos Marcelo Mitre-Dieste, will report to Mitch Skalicky, USW Regional Vice President, and have technical service responsibilities throughout the region.

“Marcelo is a very experienced food technologist who has trained and worked in both Mexico and the U.S.,” Skalicky says. “Assistant Regional Director Joe Sowers and I are excited to expand customer service in our region with such a talented and enthusiastic professional like Marcelo.” Annual sales of U.S. wheat to the region include all six of the wheat classes produced in the U.S.

Mitre studied food engineering at ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico, and earned a master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from Texas A & M University in 2001. He has worked as a Manager, Quality Control and Product Development at Sage V Foods in Freeport, TX, and in technology management for Continental Custom Ingredients in Illinois and Tate and Lyle Custom Ingredients in Mexico City. Most recently, Mitre was Director, Advisory Services, with Valcrest Foods in Miami, FL.
