Summary of Commercial Sales - Thursday May 2, 2012

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2012/13 marketing year, through May 2, 2013 were 26.8 million metric tons (MMT), 3 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 27.5 MMT.

Net sales of 239,200 MT for delivery in the 2012/2013 marketing year were up 9 percent from the previous week, but down 13 percent from the prior 4-week average, and above trade expectations of zero to 200,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Chile (20,370 HRW, 5,950 HRS, 48,086 SRW), Indonesia (43,910 HRS, 21,837 white), Mexico (39,254 HRW, 23,747 SRW), the Philippines (4,000 HRW, 31,000 HRS, 10,000 white), Namibia (27,500 HRW), and Costa Rica (5,225 HRW, 9,997 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2012/13 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.9 MMT.
