Summary of Commercial Sales - Thursday, February 2, 2012

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through January 26, 2012 were 21.7 million metric tons (MMT), 24 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 28.7 MMT.

Net sales of 518,900 MT for the 2011/2012 marketing year were down 14 percent from the previous week, but up 22 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade estimates of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Iran (180,700 HRW, 20,400 HRS, 17,499 SRW, 36,100 white), Nigeria (105,730 HRW), Dominican Republic (33,265 HRW, 18,365 HRS, 11,212 SRW), Japan (125 HRW, 887 HRS, 30,800 white), and Mexico (10,838 HRW, 256 HRS, 3,703 SRW, 8,500 white, 8 durum).

USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT.
