Commercial Sales - December 6, 2012
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2012/13 marketing year, through November 29, 2012 were 16.5 million metric tons (MMT), 10 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 18.3 MMT.
Net sales of 353,100 MT for the 2012/2013 marketing year were up 26 percent from the previous week, but down 2 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade estimates of 350,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (63,805 HRW, 20,986 HRS, 5,000 white), Mexico (34,228 HRW, 5,559 SRW), Nigeria (-7,000 HRW, 36,000 SRW), Israel (18,315 HRW), Cameroon (16,100 HRW), and Venezuela (6,000 HRS, 9,500 durum).
USDA forecasts 2012/13 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 55 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 75 percent of exports committed by this date.
