Commercial Sales - January 25, 2013
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2012/13 marketing year, through January 17, 2013 were 20.4 million metric tons (MMT), 3 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 21.1 MMT.
Net sales of 572,500 MT for the 2012/2013 marketing year were up 7 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average, and above trade estimates of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (18,463 HRW, 56,685 HRS, 32,774 white), Nigeria (100,000 HRW), Peru (70,000 HRW), Egypt (67,200 SRW), and the Philippines (37,000 HRS, 29,500 white).
USDA forecasts 2012/13 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.6 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 72 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 85 percent of exports committed by this date.
