Commercial Sales - July 26, 2012
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2012/13 marketing year, through July 19, 2012 were 8.40 million metric tons (MMT), 16 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 10.1 MMT.
Net sales of 367,000 MT for the 2012/2013 marketing year were down 38 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average., and below trade estimates of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (39,859 HRW, 25,927 HRS, 12,698 white), Nigeria (40,000 HRW, 17,000 SRW), Saudi Arabia (55,000 HRW), Taiwan (17,500 HRW, 26,085 HRS), Colombia (15,750 HRW, 20,000 SRW), Mexico (20,326 HRW, 13,103 SRW, 6 durum), and Indonesia (267 HRW, 500 HRS, 30,000 white).
USDA forecasts 2012/13 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 32.7 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 26 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 33 percent of exports committed by this date.
