Commercial Sales - May 6, 2010
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2009/10 marketing year, through April 29, 2010 were 22.023 million metric tons (MMT), 16 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 26.342 MMT.
Net sales of 150,200 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10 were down 13 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (44,000 HRW, 29,956 HRS, 8,180 white), the Dominican Republic (12,940 HRW, 6,918 HRS, -94 SRW), Mexico (12,963 HRW, 872 HRS, 165 SRW), Taiwan (12,103 HRW, 516 HRS, 158 white), Venezuela (-748 HRW, 13,000 HRS, -1,049 SRW), and Jamaica (9,000 SRW). Net sales of 134,100 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for unknown destinations (11,700 HRW, 25,000 HRS, 17,500 durum), Nigeria (50,000 HRW), and Taiwan (18,430 HRS).
USDA forecasts 2009/10 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 23.54 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 94 percent of total projected exports, down from the 5-year average of 103 percent of exports committed by this date.
