Commercial Sales - April 12, 2012
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through April 5, 2012 were 26.3 million metric tons (MMT), 23 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 34.3 MMT.
Net sales of 452,100 MT were up 11 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade estimates of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Egypt (70,000 SRW), Spain (66,559 SRW), Iran (65,417 HRW), Mexico (30,472 HRW, 11,450 SRW, 8,648 white), Nigeria (47,500 HRW), and Taiwan (12,414 HRW, 22,020 HRS, 7,210 white).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 97 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 101 percent of exports committed by this date.
