Commercial Sales - May 3, 2012
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through April 26, 2012 were 27.3 million metric tons (MMT), 22 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 35.0 MMT.
Net sales of 256,700 MT were down 34 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Indonesia (45,000 HRW, 20,000 white), South Korea (930 HRW, 3,900 HRS, -7 SRW, 58,220 white), Nigeria (38,907 HRW, 2,787 HRS, 153 SRW), Japan (21,957 HRW, 5,842 HRS, 9,102 white), Mexico (8,089 HRW, 2,220 HRS, 8,658 SRW), and unknown destinations (76,300 HRW, 11,750 HRS, 51,000 SRW, -130,000 white).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 101 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 103 percent of exports committed by this date.
