Commercial Sales - April 26, 2012
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through April 19, 2012 were 27.0 million metric tons (MMT), 22 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 34.7 MMT.
Net sales of 386,700 MT were up 6 percent from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average, and below trade estimates of 400,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Egypt (65,998 SRW, 2,290 white), Japan (65,312 HRS), Mexico (45,662 HRW, 4,680 HRS, 4,177 SRW), Taiwan (14,930 HRW, 26,720 HRS), Nigeria (30,000 HRW, 1,500 SRW), and Guatemala (16,722 HRW, 7,400 HRS, 7,178 white).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 100 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 102 percent of exports committed by this date.
