Harvest continues in the hard red spring wheat growing region with good progress made over the last week. Sixty-four percent of the samples have been collected and analyzed for wheat quality in this report. Average wheat protein is 14.7% which is up slightly from the five-year average of 14.4%. Average test weight comes in at 60.9 lb/bu (80.1 kg/hl) remaining higher than last year's final of 60.4 lb/bu (79.5 kg/hl). Sound wheat is indicated by the average falling number of 445 seconds for the region. Average DHV of 87% is higher than both last year's final (83%) and the five-year average (75%). The average grade of the crop for the region is 1 DNS.
