Harvest conditions have been excellent for most of the region over the past week. Approximately 20% of the samples have been collected. The average test weight is 59.7 lb/bu (78.6 kg/hl) compared to 61.1 lb/bu (80.3 kg/hl) last year and the five-year average of 60.4 lb/bu (79.5 kg/hl). The average protein content is 15.0% compared to 14.3% last year and 14.6% for the five-year average. Samples from western North Dakota have had lower test weights and higher protein because of the dry growing conditions. The crop is sound with a falling number value of 418 seconds. Preliminary grading information has not been received.
