Harvest Report - August 22, 2008
Durum
As of August 17, according to the North Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service office, durum harvest was 28% complete, behind 39% for last year, but the same as the five-year average. As of August 22, the average test weight was 59.2 lb/bu (77.1 kg/hl), lower than 59.9 lb/bu (78.0 kg/hl) for the 2007 crop. The average wheat protein content was 15.5 percent, higher than last year's 15.1 percent. The average dockage was 2.1 percent compared to 1.6 percent for last year. The falling number average was 417 seconds indicating the crop is sound thus far. Preliminary grading information has not been received.
