Harvest Report - August 25, 2006
SW
The 2006 soft white harvest is slightly ahead of pace in Idaho and Washington, but Oregon lags behind the five-year average. This week’s SW samples mainly consist of 29% from east central Washington, 19% from southeastern Washington, 12% from northern Idaho, 10% from northeastern Oregon, and 6% each from southeastern Oregon, north central Oregon, and northeastern Washington. This week’s cumulative averages show a grade of US #1 SW with test weight at 60.4 lb/bu (79.5 kg/hl), low moisture content at 8.8%, protein the same as last week at 10.4%, and sound falling number value at 333 seconds. Favorable weather conditions have contributed to a rapid harvest in most areas of the Pacific Northwest.
