Harvest Report - August 25, 2006
Durum
The 2006 durum harvest continues at a good rate in spite of rain showers in some areas. As of August 20, according to the North Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service office, harvest was 54% complete, ahead of 30% for last year and 23% for the five-year average. As of August 25, the average test weight was 58.8 lb/bu (76.6 kg/hl), about the same as last week. The average wheat protein content was 16.1%, higher than last week's 15.7%. The average grade was 2 HAD, compared to 1 HAD for the region last year. Total defects were 2.0%, lower than the region average of 2.2% last year.
