The Pacific Northwest soft white harvest is about one week behind in Oregon and Washington compared to last year, but the Idaho harvest has caught up with last year’s pace. The weather in the major wheat producing areas of the Pacific Northwest continues to be favorable for harvest. This week’s 63 soft white samples consist of 41% from Oregon, 38% from Washington, and 21% from Idaho. This week’s weighted averages indicated test weight at 60.7 lb/bu (79.9 kg/hl), slightly up from 60.6 lb/bu (79.8 kg/hl) last week; moisture content at 9.7%, slightly down from 9.6% last week; protein content at 9.1%, slightly down from 9.2% last week; and falling number value at 309 seconds, slightly down from 311 seconds last week.
