Dry conditions and above normal temperatures continued through the weekend allowing progress in the hard red spring harvest. Rain showers late Monday and into Tuesday slowed harvest which continues well behind average. The average test weight is 61.6 lb/bu (81.0 kg/hl), up 0.7 lb/bu (0.9 kg/hl) from last week. The average protein content is slightly lower from 13.9 percent last week to 13.7 percent this week. The falling number is slightly lower from 399 last week to 388 this week, but the crop remains sound. HRS sample collection is complete in South Dakota.
