The 2009 Pacific Northwest soft white harvest is winding down in Oregon and Washington, and Idaho is not far behind. The National Agricultural Statistic Service reported that 89.6, 99.7, and 98.2 percent of the crop were harvested in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, respectively, as of September 6, 2009. This week’s sample averages had the following changes and similarities from last week: test weight remained the same at 59.8 lb/bu (78.7 kg/hl), moisture content increased 0.1 percentage points to 9.3 percent, protein remained the same at 10.3 percent, and falling number value stayed the same at 324 seconds.
