Steady harvest progress was made over the week in the hard red spring growing region despite scattered rainfall. Thirty-eight percent of the samples have been collected and analyzed for wheat quality. The average wheat protein content increased slightly to 14.6% from last week. Average test weight is 61.4 lb/bu (80.7 kg/hl) which is up from the five-year average. Falling number average remains well over 400 seconds for harvest thus far. Average DHV is 88% making the average grade of the crop 1 DNS.
