Dry weather allowed producers to make good harvest progress this past week. Approximately 24% of the samples have been collected, mostly from the eastern half of the growing region with a few from the western half. The average test weight is 58.8 lb/bu (77.4 kg/hl) compared to 61.5 lb/bu (80.9 kg/hl) last year and the five-year average of 61.1 lb/bu (80.4 kg/hl). The average protein content is 15.2% compared to 13.9% last year and 14.2% for the five-year average. The crop is sound with a falling number value of 396 seconds.  The average DHV is 80% compared to 73% last year and the five-year average.  Dryer weather is expected to continue for the next week.
