Harvest Report - July 28, 2006
SRW
An additional seventy-nine samples were received from the soft red winter areas this week. There are now only a few remaining samples to be received. A slight dip in protein was seen with the overall average dropping from 10.0% to 9.8%. Thousand kernel weight increased slightly, and test weight remained the same at 60.1 lb/bu (79.1 kg/hl). The crop continues to grade #1.
  • Maryland early wheat results show virtually no change from the 2005 results with protein at 9.4% compared to 9.5% last year. Test weights remain the same at 58.0 lb/bu (76.4 kg/hl). Maryland harvest is complete with a few remaining late samples to be received.
  • Ohio wheat data is showing a slight drop in protein over the 2005 results with 8.6% being reported this year compared to 9.0% last year. Test weights are higher at 60.0 lb/bu (78.9 kg/hl) compared to 58.7 lb/bu (77.3 kg/hl) in 2005.

Flour results for both areas will be forthcoming with the receipt of the remaining few samples.

No falling number issues have been identified, and the crop has remained consistent and shows no significant changes from 2005.
